A little trade

I just realized I never showed you what I got in the little trade I made with Ulrika. I did show you the mice I gave her, but the furniture I got never made it to the blog =)

The chairs on the left did not come with the trade, I bought those at panduro. (they were charms, but I cut of the ring on the top) They are a bit to big, but I might have a place for them in a house later.

I thought I could build a log cabin or something for these furniture. They are 1:144 scale. And I would like to have a small log cabin =) I always liked those.. You who have followed me since my last blog at hannahsminiatyrer.blogg.se know I did do a larger log cabin before, or started and never finished... maybe I can finish a small one before I get on with the bigger one.. we will have to wait and see ;)
I did transfer all my old posts to this blog, so you can check out the log cabin here: http://hannahsminiatyrer.blogspot.se/search/label/Log%20cabin

Now its way past my bedtime, again.. So I'll see you later (or earlier another day I hope)
Take care

Winnings and new stuff

I forgot to tell you in my last post that I was the very luck winner of two contests/giveaways this summer! First I won a TV from skalaminimal on FB and then second price in Narina's giveaway.

Here's a picture of the TV, in the box, I will place it in my house later =)
I will take a picture of my other price when it arrives =)

I have had some sleepless nights, I have too many ideas I could not sleep, but I got to do some of it last week =) But I'm busy with my daughter and cant spend all day mini-making ;) But its fun being a full-time mum too, but sometime I miss making miniatures all day and night and when ever I want.. Maybe my daughter will be making miniatures with me some day =)

Last week I was so eager to work with my clay again =) And my daughter and husband most have felt it, because I got 3 hours on one day to my clay =) (and I still got to see my lovely grandmother, aunt, mother and brother =) My brother might be the man to thank for this too, because he played so much with my daughter for two days in a row, so that she just fell asleep when we got home =) )
You know the saying: less is more, that is so not true when it comes to "clay-time" ;) I could have worked day and night, I'm just so inspired right now!!
Anna made some Blythe-dolls and just like her, I would love a Blythe, but they are so expensive.. But I never thought of making my own in miniature before Anna made one, then I just "had" to make one too =)
This is my first try. I thought I could make the legs movable.. I haven't finished this one yet... I went nuts and made a few more instead ;)
They are all quite different from each other =) And I don't know if anyone will ever look like a real Blythe..

I have been working on them for several days now, and I'm still not done, but some are almost done. I don't think any of them really looks like a real Blythe =( But they look like dolls, and I will have to be happy with that, and since I LOVE dolls I might just keep all of them ;) (They might fit in my future toy store, if I don't use them all in my house =)
And I tried making a baby doll too..  but I'm not really satisfied with my results..

I don't like doing eyes.. Why do we have to have 2 eyes, and why do the look so similar?! ;) I hate doing two of some thing..
I saw this tutorial and thought I could do some eyes for my needlefelted animals, but as I said, I don't like doing eyes.. so I haven't started on them yet ;)
But I did give my dolls some simple clay eyes, I think they turned out OK.

Last week when I started working on the hair I remembered how hard it is to wig a doll, I just can't get it right.. I tried with some fake hair, some plastic hair that wouldn't bend that easily.. I just got out of self confidence and patient, and the dolls were out of scale and proportions..
My first "hair" (on these dolls that is, I have done a few dolls with hair before too =) Like these: http://hannahsminiatyrer.blogspot.se/2013/02/ej-klara-dockor.html but they are bigger and a bit easier, but though enough for me ;) )
At the back she looks like a birds nest or some thing, not pretty at all! Don't know if I can fix this later?!

And to dress these dolls... don't get me started on that ;) I just gave up this for awhile, but then I tried making dresses from clay and I did do one doll with both clay dress and hair, completely made of clay:

But today I remembered that I got a "yarn" of linen. I got it from a plumber that thought it would be perfect for my mini-making and he was right =) This was so much easier to work with, and I got my patient back =) I tried some doll hair from Panduro too, looks like yarn.
My daughter woke up before I got the time to give them a haircut ;)
But this is what I got so far, I will keep working on these dolls later, but like I said yesterday, I'm working on some secrets for the swap too =) But today I wanted a change and worked on the dolls and finished my jewellery box =)
yes, the box is finally done =)
This box can be open, didn't take any pictures of that.. you just have to trust me on that ;)

Finally this long post has come to an end... =) I thought I wasn't going to write as much today... but I guess "I'm a writer" I just cant help myself.. writing is my thing ;)

Take care

More carpets!

Oh no, I found more free patterns for carpets.... ;) I love carpets (in miniature, in "real life" I do think they are an awful lot of extra work vacuuming....)
It looks like I have to do more carpets... Just look at this wonderful patterns: http://tanjal.dk/pages/dukkehuse-i-1-til-12/diygF8r-det-selv/broderede-tE6pper.php The one with the figures are my favourite! I have to do that one later. I dont want to start a new carpet while I'm still working on one, I
think the first one just will be lying and never finished, so I have come up with this "rule" for my self =)
I was planing to do the carpet on the front of my new book too, and then I really wanted to design a carpet of my own too... There will be lots of carpets in my future, I hope =) But I made the first one in 6 month, and this second one is bigger (but I do half stitches, not cross stitches as the first one) but I guess it will take a couple of more months.. So I might do 2 carpets a year, not much, but I see it as a relaxing activity. And I hope I get a bit faster as the years go ;)

Anyway, I'm working on some pieces for a swap right now. I love swaps =) Its so exiting! But I always wonder if my things are good enough.. and I think its hard to value my own things.. I hope the receivers will be happy for my things =) I will show you the things later, but I wont show it right now.. But I can give you a hint that it will be a lot of clay work this time =) And I have done one thing I have been wanting to do for awhile now, so I had to make a couple things for myself too ;) (as always)

Hope to show you some new pictures next time =)
Take care

Back from some vacations

So I'm back from a little vacation. =) I thought I was going to miss the work on my house when we were gone, but I think I needed a break. I was working on the floors and they did NOT turn out the way I wanted =( Don't know if I should do it all over again, or just leave it as it is.. (I guess it's quite hard to remove now I have glued it straight on to the floor... and painted it white.)

Anyway I did bring my carpet on the vacation (we visited my mother-in-law in south Sweden and attended a wedding in a different part of Sweden, we did quite a lot of travelling on a short time period, but we had a great time =) ) and I've been working on the carpet every now and then =) I think it's very soothing and fun =)
This is were I'm at right now, or.. I did do a few more stitches since I took the picture.. ;)

Last week we got back for the vacation, but I didn't get back on my miniature making until today =) (Except for the carpet) Like I said before, I got some lovely miniature shells, I thought I could do a nice jewellery box with shells on. Those shells are beautiful in them self, so I reckon I didn't need to do mush with them.. but I think I manage to make them look less beautiful then they really are.. um.. Hope it looks better when I'm finished.. I don't know how to decorate the box and make it look as wonderful as the shells deserve... This is what I got so far:
But this is just the beginning, I haven't even started on the lid yet =) I think it looks a bit empty.. It might need some more decorations.. I have to sleep on that =)
I did use this too, I believe its used to make flowers?! Nice and shiny anyway =) Like pearl I thought =)

At last I would like to show what I found in the grocery store =) I love mushrooms and I wanted some for dinner and found a great wooden box full of them for 15kr. I thought this box would be great building material =) I was so eager I already started taking the box apart when I took the photograph =) Don't know what to make of it, but I guess it might come handy one day =)

Hope to  work a bit more on my jewellery box tomorrow, but now I say good night for now =)
Take care

Two new books

I got a gift voucher on cdon.se and bought two books =) I had a hard time deciding what books to buy, but I thought about James Carrington's book for awhile and I like clay and would love to be able to do dolls, and I like embroidering and wanted some new patterns (but there are lots of great free patterns on line too). So these two is what I bought in the end =)

Needlework designs for Miniature projects - 64 Charts for counted cross-stich and needlepoint - Eileen Folk Dover publications Inc.

I was a bit disappointed that the patterns are in black and white. The only colour pictures in this book is on the cover (both in- and outside the cover). I love the carpet on the front and I thought I could use the screen pattern for a carpet too =) I like that dragon =) And I like doing carpets =)
I think the book is OK, but it's not a favourite, yet ;)
You can look a bit inside the book here:

Needlefelt

I've been needlefelting again after a long break =) But that's how I do things.. makes a lot, then take a break and do some other material. That's the great thing about miniatures, they can be done in lots of different materials =)

I started doing one mouse for a girl I know from a forum at Facebook, and I got hooked and made one for myself too =)

(This is how it goes when you stick your head inside the glue bottle to long, just look at the little one in the back... He's OK now! Just look beneath ;) )

Then I wanted to give her something more, and she asked for more mice =) So I ended up doing 4 mice for her and 1 for me, then I got real tired of mice for awhile ;) And my poor doll didn't seem to like the invasion.... ;)
She did calm down later.. But it's not easy having mischievous mice everywhere.. They tickle a lot!

I chose to make them more or less in one piece. That way I didn't have to attach lots of small pieces like legs, arms and nose. But I made the tail and ears (and the pink part of the nose) later.

Stared of with the head, I just formed it into a round shape and like a cone for the nose. Just keep punching the needle trough the wool until you like the shape =)

Then the arms..

.. and the legs
If the legs feel a bit thin, like mine did, just add some more wool.

Then I made the tail, rolled it hard and punched with the needle and attached it on the body.
And I forgot to photograph the ears.. I made small flat "balls" and attached them like the tail. And a small pink ball on the nose and inside the ears. And small eyes from black wool.

Is it cute or what! =) I got a cute guinea pig from her.

Take care!

Ikea "Huset"

Some of you might now that the Swedish furniture store IKEA just made miniature furnitures =)
I have read a lot about it and many people said that they would be in 1:15 scale, and I was so looking forward to this, I LOVE Ikea! =) I thought they were going to start selling them in August, but when I visited Ikea this weekend I just happen to see them =) But they looked sooo big. No way they are 1:15 after talking to others and some measuring I think they are more like 1:8. Too big for my dollhouse but a bit too small for Barbie. I might let my daughter play with them, but the carpet, the pillow and the self might work anyway, maybe the chair too, but the sofa is big.. Just look at this =) My 1:12 scale lady relaxing in the sofa..

The furnitures are sold in one set and every piece is a miniature after "real" furnitures. =) I saw the chairs outside the store, I like miniatures after "real" things =)

I did measure them quickly and got these numbers if anyone is interested how big they are =)
Self: 18,5cm High, 10cm wide, 5cm deep
Table: 6cm high, 7cm wide
Chair: 10,5cm wide, 9cm high
Sofa: 22,5cm wide, 11cm deep, 9cm high
Carpet: 28x18,5cm

I think they are quite cute and I hope to find a place for them somewhere =)

Take care

Hope you will enjoy reading my blog =)

I have no fun pictures to show this time.. But I'm done with the bedroom floor, or I started painting it today, will keep painting tomorrow. I should have done it on a piece of cardboard instead of straight on to the floor, it is really hard to paint inside the house, my brush is to long and hits the ceiling all the time and don't get me started on the walls.. I can't seem to avoid them.. even with a piece of paper to cover it... but it will just have to work! Now I most decide about the last floors, the attic/ children's rooms... Will have to sleep a bit more over that ;)

Doing the floor

Yes, I'm doing the bedroom floor right now, a little bit now and then =) Its perfect to do just a few sticks at the time, when I have just a second over =)
I use popsicles, I thought it would be more straight and look a bit better than it actually does, but I hope it will be OK when it's done and I've painted it.. It went a bit crocked and got some holes in it..

I put a piece of thick cardboard in the hole in the floor, and glued a piece of white paper over it, and then I just kept gluing popsicles. =)

This is were I'm at right now =) I really hope I wont run out of posicles.. :S

I got a bit of track when I collected the mail a few days ago... =)
I Bought this kit on aliexpress, wasn't suppose to start it now... but I couldn't help myself... It's a DIY "puzzle", so exiting. I just fell in love with the drums, want them in my house, and the guitar. So I thought I could build the shop as a toy store or a bakery and use the instruments in my house =) Will have to wait and see how this goes..
As you can see, even the instruments are in pieces =)  Lots of small parts, and instructions on Chinese... VERY hard to understand, but there are lots of pictures too =) I think I will get it after all =) (I'm super exited over this =) )

Just checking how the front will look like... =) Before I packed it up again and went back to my house.. =)

And talking about mail...

I just want to show you what I got in the mail last week (I had a great mail-week, got lots of stuff ;) )
I swapped with a Facebook-friend and go this amazing water snail-shells. I LOVE snails =) And this shells are so cute, and amazingly beautiful! She picked them up in France, I don't think you could ever find anything like it in Sweden... (I hope to do a jewellery box out of these later)
I got the shells, and she got lots of punchies from me and this: (slices from my home-made canes)

And I got some fabrics from another Facebook acquaintance, Wenche, I hope to make dresses and curtains later =)

(And before I go to bed I just want to ask; does anyone know how to change the name of a label in the blog?? I have my labels on Swedish, but want them in English now... But I cant find a way to change them =(
Would be very happy if anyone can help me with that =) )
I just google it and found out how to do, a bit tricky but I think I get it now =) https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/74896?hl=sv If anyone else wonders how to do =)

Thank you all for reading and take care

The house

Just wrote, a lot, as usual... but this time it all disappeared =(
I was saying I was so frustrated last week. But now I'm finally done =) I've done all the wallpapers and I got help from my husband to assemble the house, it took more hands than I had ;)

I will attach the roof when I'm done with the floors. I had to replace the kitchen floor =( It didn't fit when I had to turn the back around.. I really liked that squared floor, but I found a new black and white tablecloth for the floor =) And I like this one too =) I most say I'm very pleased with the colour choices =) (I could have this in my real home, we do have yellow kitchen walls, but the rest is just made up...)
I'm thinking of doing the bedroom floors out of popsicle sticks, and maybe paint it white.

I saw this wooden spline at the roof when I had assembled the house. I will have to paint it white. I saw more of these at the sides before, and added some more wallpaper at the sides. I strongly dislike this  splines, they are in the way of the furniture... But I have to find a way to work around them..

My daughter loved the house, until I said she couldn't slam the doors... Poor girl.. She is just to small for her  own dollhouse right now.. but one day... But how do I keep her away from my house?! =)

The livingroom is all done... or.. If I find some nice varnish I will ad that for a bit more shine to the floor =) I already painted it with some coffee, don't know if it made any difference actually ;) But I like the colour now.
Now its time to go to sleep, and dream about what I can do with the house tomorrow ;)
take care
