Fantasy

Yesterday I was sick and had to stay in bed all day, I got very bored and tried to finish this post I started last week.. But I couldn't sit up, but I'm getting better today.. so here I try write some more.. =)

I don't celebrate Halloween but maybe it did inspire me to continue with my Fantasy roombox, all a sudden I felt like making a secret passage. For that I needed a bookshelf, so I built one, of biltema-pinnar.
When I was done I thought it would have been nice to put wallpaper inside the bookshelf, but it might be hard to do now, I'll see what I can do..
I need to decide how the hole/corridor will look like, I was thinking a rabbit hole like Alice in wonderland.

I want to add things that reminds me of TV-series or movies I like:
Buffy the vampire slayer (my favorite TV-series)
Once upon a time
Once upon a time in wonderland
Harry Potter
Lord of the ring
Merlin
Lost (since my husband liked that show. I only saw the last season)
Friends (not a fantasy series.. But there is a painting I'd love to make a mini version off, since I love that show too =) )
(I might have forgotten some movies or series that I'll add later) =)

Anyhow, maybe a rabbit hole in the wall, behind a bookshelf could be my once upon a time in wonderland "thing". (I hope to add more from that series later too)

I also added some wallpaper since last time, and since I fell head over heal in love with Carolines roof painting, (we had a roof painting in our house when I was a kid too) I wanted to paint the roof. After a few attempts of making some kind of pattern, I gave up and just added paint, and more paint and yet again more paint.. and this is what I got =)

Not what I thought I'd do, but I do like it =) The left is inside the house, some kind of magical roof and the right is outside, the sky.

And finally I got to play a little and try out my saved stuff.

 Just testing

Testing the bookshelf. I need to make more books for it =) Can you see Jane's amazing dragon eggs? And a glimpse of Birgit's incredible book. And beautiful colourful mushrooms from Irina.

A sleeping dragon in the woods, it's a sweet baby dragon, according to my daughter. =)

"Ap-tanten" (Monkey-lady) as my daughter like to call her... has been out picking mushrooms, she had to go all the way to Germany to get this kind of Birgit-made-ones ;)
I'm amazed she manage to go out at all, since she is missing a skirt... But she is happy for her new boots. (My first try with sculpey soufflé clay)

I have no idea how to make the outside part. I want trees, grass, stones and other woods-stuff.. Do you have any great tips for me? Please let me know =)
But I might start working on my Santa house soon, and I should keep working on the Pettersson's house too. I have lots to do, but I like it that way, so that I can choose the thing I feel like doing for the moment. =)

Now I'll rest again..
Take care

New Book

Dolls' house details  Over 500 craft projects in 1/12 scale - Kath Dalmeny

I bought this book from a Facebook group. There are many projects and some of them looks very interesting. I hope to try some of them soon. Some on the other hand are very easy and a bit amateur-looking. I can't say that I'm impressed by for example the food in this book, but the toys are more my style =) There are many great templates and good ideas.
It's published the year 2000, and I get a 90's feeling from it.
You can have a sneak peek in this book here: http://www.amazon.com/Dolls-House-Details-Kath-Dalmeny/dp/0715313673#reader_0715313673

As you know I'm a book-lover and I'm happy to have one more to my collection.

Last but not least I'd like to share a new tune from my husband:
http://boray.bandcamp.com/track/monday I think this is my favourite on his new album, and since today is just Monday, I wanted to share it with you all =)

Stuck in the nursery =)

When I was a kid, my brothers favourite animal was monkeys. I had a hard time choosing a favourite, since I loved them all =) Ants, spiders, dogs, rabbits, lizards, frogs, wolfs, elephants and giraffes (and everything else that lives) But when choosing an exotic animal, giraffes was always high on the list. They were tall and kinda skinny (just like me, well, OK, much taller than me, but still..)
I guess this is why I like doing miniature giraffes so much =) Even do the spots are kind of annoying ;)
I was thinking of doing something for my house, but I ended up doing another giraffe, so here it is:

It's up for sale, since I already have a giraffe on my own =)

Two friends in the nursery =)
The one in the back is staying with me, and the other one hopes to find a loving home soon.

You know I started with the nursery for my house. The funniest room to make since it's filled with toys, which I love =)
The other rooms are just on hold.. I just don't know were and how to start, I guess I'll have to take it one step at the time..
Anyhow I made a bedding to that empty crib of mine. It has been empty for so many years, but when I saw another girl (in our FB-group) doing a bed-set, I finally got started too =) Sometimes I need someone to "tell me" what to do, or see something done, and then I finally get started.

The dog was admiring the new bed-set =)

Mini-Bä already made herself comfortable

I also went trough some of my boxes and found this cute teddy bear that I bought 10 years ago, finally I unpacked it and placed it in my dollhouse =)
Looks like I can't make a new blog-post without another teddy bear showing up... ;)

I also found a knight's castle and a "painting"

I made this castle about 10 years ago, maybe even longer ago. I think it will go to my boy's room.

And this brooch is a memory from a deceased friend, it makes a great "painting". I always loved the motive, my mum has a poster with this motive in her bedroom and I thought it looked nice in the nursery. I always read a prayer about an angle that watched over our house when I was a kid and went to bed, and I imagine the kid's in this house does that too.

I forget how fun it is to decorate, I always think I'm really bad at it. But Jane's Dalicious
challenges made me want to set up a scene, a room and decorate =)
And I speaking of Jane, she is a very nice person, and I'll be posting about something she helped me get, as soon as I get it ;)

Got some mail

I LOVE getting mail =) email is fun, but regular mail is just wonderful! And when it contains miniatures, it's the best!!!

Awhile ago I could not resist these miniatures.. so I bought them on FB.. (I think the balloons, which are too cute, are Re-ment, they should be in a box..) And the toy monkey is so very cute, but it was broken when I got it =( But I've glued it together again.

Didn't think I was going to save the teddy bear, but... I get too attached to things, quickly.. so the bear just run into my house before I could think of selling him..
Here he is, hiding behind and cuddling with one of my own bears..
But I guess Birgit agrees with me, one can never have too many bears.. ;)

Have no idea were this monkey originally came from, but he is really cute!!

Then I got a consultation prize in a guessing contest on FB, and the woman who held the competition knew I like fabrics, and retro patterns, so she sent me some retro fabrics. Lovely! Now I just need to collect enough courage to cut into them and make something out of them.. I always spend a great deal of time not knowing what to do, how to, and if I really should cut a lovely fabric like that...

I also got the last issue of Miniatyrvärlden, the one and only miniature magazine in Sweden. And guess what, I saw my name in it =) But it shouldn't have been there.. It was a picture of Anna's miniature houses, and it said that it was from Hanna and Annas miniatyrer. (First of all I spell my name with an extra h, most swedes don't, but I do =) ) and second of all Anna and I shared a table, but we didn't sell together, we just shared the space =) and Anna has miniatures, the English word for miniatyrer.. and it was Anna's houses, so my name shouldn't even be there.. but it was nice to see it ;)
Anna's mini-Lundby-houses are wonderful, I got one myself, you can see one of her houses in this post: http://hannahsminiatyrer.blogspot.se/2014/04/stockholms-miniatyrmassa-april-2014.html
or at her blog: http://www.annasminiatures.blogspot.se/2013/12/mini-lundby-house.html

And I also bought some books from a FB group (I love how there are lots of FB groups about miniatures) I bought 1 book and 2 magazines. (I will write more about the book later)

And then a very nice lady got lots of watchmaker stuff, glass and pointers. And she wanted to share with all who wanted something, and I asked for some glass (for tables) and some pointers, for candlesticks. Just needed to pay the postage, a great deal =)

Then I bought a glass cabinet, I have longed for this a long while, and finally I got it at a great price, on FB. I'm thinking of repainting it. Maybe green, blue or some other bright colour?! I'll think about that.

And when I went to a flee-market to buy some new dresses for my little girl (she loves dresses) I found these cute animals. My little girl got a few, the rest I kept for myself =)

I thought they could look good in a dollhouse..
I think I was right =)

I've been on a shopping spree... have to stop that now. We have very little space at home.. and I earn 0kr a month.. so I shouldn't go around spending money like this... But I LOVE shopping =) and I did sell a few things, some collectable items and miniatures, so I felt like I could spend that money, right away =)

Before I ended my shopping spree I did order a hand mixer too, looked several times, and then when I got just enough money, I spent it all on this wonderful thing =)
Her blog: http://minifanaberia.blogspot.se and the Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/se-en/listing/202858666/miniature-hand-mixer-with-removable?ref=related-4

It's wonderful and you can even remove the beaters and the dough hooks!
I got a little gift too, a sign =)

The miniature next to my real one =)

I have gotten so many great mails lately, I'll have to stop buying things now.. but it was fun while it lasted ;)

Mini-Bä

Thank you all for your kind words about my rug tutorial, it was my first video ever, hope there will be more =) And thanks for the kind words about the music by my husband too. I'm very proud of him, he is a great composer and he can play all instruments (at least guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, flute, I might forget something, but I'm sure he could play what ever instrument that comes across his hands =) ) OK that will have to finish my bragging about my husband ;)
From my husband to my daughter =) She is the best girl in the whole wide world, and she is a fan of my miniatures, but she never get anything that I made.. until a week ago..

I'm very found of the miniature nursery and toys. I guess that's why I can't stop making teddy bears and toys, I hope I'll get to do a miniature toy store one day. But now to my latest mini-toy =)
My daughter has a favourite toy/blanket sheep that she got as a baby, and she loves it very much and calls her "Bä" (The sound a Swedish sheep say =) ) Bä follow us everywhere! At the beginning she was white.. but now she has her own, worn look... =)
I thought it would be fun to have a mini-Bä in my nursery, so I needle felted one. Then I felt a bit bad to keep it for myself, so I did another one for my daughters dollhouse.
I put it in her house and waited for her to see it =) And she said: Oh a baby Bä. Bä has become a mum! She was very pleased =) And now mini-baby-Bä is playing with Bä. He is so small I'm a bit afraid he will get lost soon, but I guess that's life when you give small kids very tiny things.. (A week has now past since I made him, and mini-Bä is lost from time to time, but we always manage to find him in the end) =)

Bä meeting mini-Bä for the first time, they kiss and cuddle.

There is something very exciting on the TV, all the smurfs and the dollhouse dolls are lined up in the living room for some TV.
And Bä and mini-Bä got to look at the telly as well =)

Giving her one thing I made, made her want more.. =) So I'm working on a mini-pram she has been asking for.. Maybe I'll have to make two of everything from now on, so that she can get one.. or just hide away my stuff like I used too ;)

Last but not least, the teddy bears, they seem to increase =) These are the colours I made so far. It's fun to make them in different colours, I'm working on a beige and yellow one too =)

Tutorial Rya rug / Long pile rug

Finally my rug tutorial is done =) First I doesn't post any thing or read any blogs for almost a whole month, and now I post once a week ;)
Before the vacation I got hooked in making rya/long pile rugs. First I had a pattern in my mind, but it was impossible to make it like I wanted, so I changed the pattern, and then change again, and I was quite pleased with the pattern even if it was completely different to the vision in my head =) I started thinking of a new pattern, and started another rug =) But still, the pattern was not what I planed.. But it was OK =) And then I gave it a third try, still not at all what I planned, but nice. So I'm very good at making rugs I first not planed on making ;)

I have already given you a sneak peak on this black and white rug. And now I wanted to show you how I did. I looked at a video on youtube, for real size rugs. And then I scaled down and tried and this is what I made =)

If you try this tutorial, please let me know, I'd love to see your rug =)

And if you like the music on this video you can hear more here: www.boray.se
And if you are a bit curious about me, you get to see at least one picture of my husband by clicking that link ;) Since "Boray" is my husband =)

I won! =)

Guess what I got:

Yes, I won Pirkkos giveaway =) Jiipppi for me! Actually she had to make a redraw since the first winner didn't show, I feel a bit bad for that poor person, but I'm very lucky I got a second chance and got to be the winner at last.
I have won giveaways before when my own creativity is lacking and I feel a bit down (just like I have done right now), then I win a giveaway and get more creative and happy again =) I think I need to be at least a little creative to be happy =) But I wonder if I should feel down more often, so I can win more often ;) Winning wonderful miniatures from wonderful miniaturists are truly wonderful!!

Pirkko added lots of candy, she gave me two of each, which made my husband really happy, he got half =) Both of us love liquorice and chocolate, so this was perfect. And look at the cute card! (I'm sorry the picture wasn't that great.. it was a bit too dark when I shot it..) And a wonderful flower, that I put in a vase I had (a bead). Thank you Pirkko! wonderful gift. I'm so happy.

Will see if I take another vase later, just tried it out for the photo.

And the "big price" the blanket with wonderful patchwork! And very cute cushions. I tried it on my bed

Look how great it fits my bedroom, I haven't made any bedding for this bed, no pillows or anything, so this was just perfect. Sorry to show such a mess in the house..

I also got patterns for patchwork, to try on my own. I did try patchwork before, once or twice, and it was a mess... Not a straight line anywhere.. I hope I have a better luck now that I have these patterns =) I will try when I get the time, that could take awhile.. =)

I'm so happy for my price!! Thank you Pirkko!! Don't forget to look at her wonderful blog =)

Back, again =)

I think I spoke a bit to soon last time, saying I was back.. I was back home, but no more than that.. But now I have been catching up on blogs and made a few miniatures, but not that much..
Not much going on in my miniature house right now.. And I miss the summer and the heat, my daughter got a cold, I have been cleaning and doing laundry after our vacation.. and feel kinda uninspired..

But I did finish a rug, and started a tutorial on that, will be posting that soon, I hope =)

Is there a nativity scene I see there on the left?! Looks like noone has been here to clean since last Christmas..
I have a feeling my mini-family The Pettersson's took a vacation too. Looks like they have been doing some laundry too ;) (Tutorial on my washing machine is here: http://hannahsminiatyrer.blogspot.se/2013/11/making-washing-machine.html seem to be the post most people have read actually =) )

My white poodle tried lying on the new rug I made =) This rug will turn up in a tutorial soon =)

I don't know what the Pettersson's say about dog's in beads, but I haven't made the final bed set for this bed yet, so I'll allow it for now..

My brother went to Japan to study for a couple of months, I would have LOVE to come with him, or just visit him there, but it's a bit too expensive for me (and with all the wonderful dolls and miniatures they have over there, it would most certainly be an expensive trip for me;) ), and I have my family to look after too =) So I settle with buying some Re-ment plates instead... and some cute toys =) Found them in a group on Facebook.

You know I love toys, and I just couldn't resist these babies!! I have not showed them to my daughter, she would have taken them in a heartbeat......

I decided to try selling these bears on Etsy, I started with the green one, and I just got the grey/brown one out on Etsy too, the other one might just get out there when I get the time =) And I started to work on the "bear-line-up". A brown, a blue and a white teddy bear is in the making.
It's strange but ever since the fair I haven't felt like doing any cats and dogs.. Or I want to make them, but I just can't.. I have started on a cat, but I never feel like doing the head.. it's a headless cat at the moment.. I might get over that soon, but until then I'll keep doing bears, I enjoy that and I like to have them in all kind of colours =)

There was going to be a Stockholm miniature show this fall too, just like the one I was at in April. But I couldn't go, I haven't made enough things and it gets to expensive to go just as a visitor =) And then they cancelled the show because of troubles with the hotel (I was very happy then that I didn't bought any tickets to Stockholm), but now Miniaturemama Lena and friends are going to set up a new show 26/10, so if you are near Stockholm, go and take a look, I wont be there, but I know they will have a LOT of fun over there!
Read more about it here: http://miniatyrmama.blogspot.se/2014/09/stockholm-miniature-show.html

I'm back =)

We went on a vacation for two weeks. My husband only had two weeks of vacation this year and as always we went to my mother-in-law in south Sweden. We took the car and made the loooong road trip. It's a bit sad that we live so far away from each other.. But these days we can always chat for free with skype =)
Any way, I didn't make any miniatures or read any miniature blogs while we were gone. My computer got to stay at home this year, but I did check some email and stuff on the phone =) But now I have lots of blog-catching-up to do... And miniatures to make, but I seem to have run out of creativity.. I have been very creative and made lots of things the last years, but right now I don't feel like doing anything.. especially not needle felt =( I hope this will change soon!

The day before the trip I was thinking of my Etsy shop, and if I should put it on hold for the vacation (but I didn't) And then, I got a custom order. I was thinking of removing that option, but I never go to it.. But I was thrilled, but soon I realized it was a bit to stressful for me, especially since I didn't have the wool colour the customer wanted, I offered to make it in another colour, but we ended up saying she needed to look for another seller..
After that I removed the option to make a custom request.. I do work fast under a bit of pressure, ( I finished the teddy bear in only one day, but I did have a babysitter that day, so I could work without a curious girl hanging over my shoulder all day =) ) but I get very anxious I wont be able to make it good enough for the customer. So I removed that "button" on my Etsy shop. I might offer custom orders in the future but for now I will only sell things I have actually already made and that people choose from a picture, that way I know that's the thing they want. But if anyone want something in particular don't be afraid to ask me =) I think it's a lot more pressure if someone make an "order" than if it's just a request by mail =)

Well, since I haven't been making any minis on the vacation I have nothing to show.. But I did make that teddy bear in the "wrong" colour, so here it is:
I was thinking of making teddy bears like this in lots of different colours and line them up in one photo, I think that would look cool. =) Maybe I will be able to make some more one day, when the inspiration gets back.
This bear is supposed to look a lot like the orange one I made before, but all my animals gets a bit different from the other, that makes them more unique, and I do like that, but some times I just want to "copy" what I have already made once, but that is just impossible!

I hope to be able to post a new tutorial soon, just need some technical help from my husband first.. so stay tuned.. ;)

Take care
Hannah

New book: Miniaturemøbler i skandinavisk stil

From one book to another =) I love books, miniature books like the one I bought from Birgit, and books about miniatures =)
I have been looking for a Danish book about miniature furniture for quite awhile now, first I thought it was a bit too expensive and I was saving up for it, and then, they stopped selling it at one place after another. I have been "watching" it on adlibris for several month, maybe over a year. But it's sold out at the publisher. But with help from Birgitta I manage to find and buy the last one at WilliamDam Denmark. More expensive than I first thought.. but now I finally got it =)
There are great pictures of lovely furniture. And templates and step to step on all the furniture, a great book! I'm so happy to have it!
Miniaturemøbler i skandinavisk stil - Susanne Botfeldt
I recently discovered that I like "allmoge möbler". I would love an "allmoge" corner cupboard (Life size). But I have no room for it, and they cost a lot, so I thought I could make one in miniature, but looking at the instructions in this book I thought it was a bit too hard for me. I have to try something easier first, maybe I'll be able to make a cupboard in a few years.. But then I have to become a great painter until then too ;) (Maybe I'll just save up some money and buy one, like Anne Collins lovely cupboards: http://annesminiatyrer.blogspot.se/2013/10/hornskap-vaggskap-och-kistor.html and http://annesminiatyrer.blogspot.se/2012/10/utdragssangarsoffor-och-skap.html
Until then I remembered a cupboard lying in my "fix or repaint-box" And I started sanding it and paint it. But in this heat I don't feel like doing anything else than relaxing in the sun.. I have been sewing a bit on a rya/ loop pile carpet, fun, but it took much more time than I thought it would =) I'll show pictures later =)
