Brio Alphyddan

I was not going to buy any more dollhouses now! And certainly not a "Lundby scale" one.. (since I have a few unfurnished, and packed away) But then.. There was this girl in my home town, selling a Brio house, for a good price. And I was looking for this house like 10 years ago, but I gave up, either I couldn't find it, or when I did, it was too expensive or too far away. And all a sudden this just turned up, the girl even drove the house to my doorstep, all I had to do was get out, pay and carry it inside =) (great since I was still coughing and really tired at the time, but now I feel better)

It has the original wallpapers, and I will not change it. It has some marks of time on it, but still, it looks really good. I think it is from 1963 or something like that.
I have found 2 blogposts about Brio Alphyddan here:
A little different wallpapers: http://miniatyrsaker.blogspot.se/2014/02/brio-alphyddan.html
Looks like mine, but one wallpaper is different: http://minadockskap.blogspot.se/2013/07/alphyddan.html
I hope to furnish this house with furniture from the 60's and maybe some Brio original furniture too (they are wonderful!! But quite expensive..)
For now I actually let my daughter play careful with it. With a few old furniture and dolls I found in my drawers. I have to find a place for this house, we are getting out of space here, but my husband thought the house was nice too, so he "let" me buy it =) Even do we are crowded..

I think the ground have faded in colour, but I don't know how it would look originally.. But I was thinking more green?!

I'll use this as a bedroom, Love the wallpaper.

Livingroom, with two different wallpapers, I love those too =)

And the stairs, that's my favourite thing with the house =)
There is a bathroom under the stairs. Unfortunately it's glued to the walls, I haven't decided whether I should remove them or not, it's Lundby furniture. And they are a bit broken, but kinda suits the house, I'll see what I do.
Broken toilet.

I did remove a curtain in this window, it fell down on one side all the time, and the pin used to attach it to the wall was very rusty. A few bad marks on this wall, but still OK looking..

The name EVA is written on the side, I thought of removing it, but it's nice to see that it has been used and probably loved once before =)

A careful girl exited to look at Mommy's new house =)

Take care
Hannah

  1. Congratulations on this lucky find, Hannah, it's a very original and wonderful dollshouse :). I think that the damage on the house isn't so bad, so I would leave it like it is, because like you already said, that way it has an aged look. But that's your own choice, of course ;O!!
I can imagine how your daughter would love to play with this dollshouse.
Personally I didn't have a dollshouse in my childhood, but a girlfriend of mine had one. It was a Lundby house, I still know how it looked like and I was very fond to play with this girlfriend........because of her dollshouse, of course ;D!! No, I'm kidding :D LOL!!
Hope you feel a bit better despite of your cough?
Wishing you a nice weekend! Hugs, Ilona

    1. Thank you Ilona! I will leave it as it is, it's not that easy to find a house like this with original wallpapers. I do like to renovate, but the older I get, the more I like to preserve old things =)
I had a Lundby when I was a kid, an old one with some old furniture, no lights, but my best friend had a new Lundby with lots of furniture and lamps. I was a bit jealous =) But I like my old house too, and now my daughter has that house, she does like my houses a bit more, my things always seem the most exiting for her =)

  2. What a great find, Hannah! I love your idea to keep it as it is and add mod furniture to it. If you like dolls in your dollhouses, the Petite Blythe dolls and Littlest Pet Shop Blythe dolls fit in 3/4 scale perfectly, in my opinion.I look forward to seeing what you do with this house. Congratulations! xo Jennifer

  5. Grattis! vilket underbart hus!

    1. She has gotten more patience now, she can sit still with me while I create something and she can play careful. And create things of her own too. It's wonderful =)

  7. What a wonderful find - this house is beautiful with big potential. Looks like this is going to become "House Eva" or "Maison d'Eva" or something like that... ;O) And how nice that your family is really standing at your side - your husband because he arranges himself with running out of space in the house and still telling you to take this opportunity and your darling daughter because she carefully does what this house was originally intented for: Playing and having fun!

    Hugs
    Birgit
