Carpets and teddies

I thought it would be nice to do something for the dollhouse together with my 2,5 year old. She agreed, for a couple of minuets, then she got bored, but we manage to make a carpet for her dollhouse. She is very pleased with it.
I made one for myself too, but I never got to finish it =) As I said, she got a little bored..

This most be the most simple and fastest way to make a miniature carpet =) I'll just cut it clean and straight later, after I finished it. I used the same glue method as I did before: My easy carpet tutorial
I'll keep gluing some more yarn to mine later.

Then I can tell you that I bought my first silk gauze, from Etsy and a shop in USA. I have been a bit scared of shopping outside Sweden, but it went well =)
Now I only have to decide what to embroider on this piece, I'm almost scared to try, I don't want to waste it... =)

And the latest news, I couldn't stop making orange teddy bears... ;) So here's a picture of them all. (The new ones that is, I have an old one since before too, and I have sold one too..) But I think I'm done with the orange teddies for the moment.. But you never know, that orange wool might sneak up on me again..
The one to the left is up for sale on Etsy, the one in the middle is suppose to stay with me and the one at the right was suppose to be up for sale soon, but when I dont separate myself from my work as soon as they are done, I get attached to them ;) So we'll have to wait and see where he'll end up, but I can't keep saving every other teddy like this, I'll get too crowded. And I dont want to stop making them =) But I guess I'll have a easier time to let some of them go if I collect them all in a box, then I can choose some to stay and some to go, to get more room. I'm in no hurry to get rid of them =)
Looking around at teddy bears on Etsy I decided to raise the price, once more, and I hope people will buy my things anyway... Now I know someone really wants it, and doesn't buy it because its kinda cute and cheap.. My first teddy bears were half the price this one is...
Hope I did right, otherwise I can always change back to cheaper prices later =) I think the woman who bought a lot of my stuff at the fair was going to sell them for the double price in her store, so if she can, I can, right? =)

Thanks for reading =) Hope you have a lovely summer! Here it's a bit cold =( But I'm hoping for great hot sunny weather soon.
Take care
Hannah

I hope to come up with more fun projects for the dollhouse to try with my daughter, it feels like she is still a bit too young, but she likes to do what I do, but I wont let her use the needles, but she says she needle felts too, with her own wool and some crayons as needles =)

  2. Your teddy trio is really cute - and each one a bearsonality of its own. I like their bright colour. It's a shame that a customer of yours is selling your work for a high prices... but okay, there have to be bad and dumb people in the world so that the good ones can be recognised, right? ;O) Now have a happy stitching time with your silk gauze!

It was a customer at the fair and she did eventually tell me she was going to sell them in her store for a higher price. I was very uncertain of what I thought of that, and haven't thought of that anyone could do that, so I was very surprised, but I did say it was OK at the end, if she did give the new customer my card. But in the future I prefer selling my own things to customers that really wants them, for them self or as a gift for a friend.. I love seeing the reaction or hear about it on email when I have sold something so I think that's why I sell, and when people sell them for me I don't get to see or hear anything.. Then I could as well keep the things =)

    1. Thanks Jane! For now, my daughter is pleased if I just give here a piece of wool, instead of a finished teddy or something, but I'm preparing for higher demands in the future.. =)
Now she is a big fan of me, and everything I touch is brilliant, I imagine that will pass too ;)

I have always wished to be brilliant with clay, like you =) But since I doesn't have time to practise my clay skills that often, I often get disappointed with my work, it is easier for me to work on wool, but I still think of myself as a wool-amateur =)

    1. Thank you Jennifer! I have been avoiding both Etsy and Ebay for a long time, but I couldn't resist Etsy.. and I opened an Ebay account yesterday too. I have to practise my self control =) There are many many fantastic things out there, I could just shop 'til I drop, but I wont.. I try to shop only for the money my own things brings in, but sometime I just have to have something ;)

  5. Hi Hannah! How lovely that you have worked together with your daughter on these rugs, she did a great job for her first one ;)! The three bears are wonderful work.
I wish you much pleasure with the embroidery. I do recognise a bit of your fear, because I won a giveaway of Natalia's blog and I also have received from her this silk gauze.....;0!
We have the same cold and rainy weather as you have, so I hope you will get your hot summer weather, we would enjoy it!

We will have to encourage each other to embroider on the silk gauze then =) I don't know which pattern to choose, I have to think about that first =)

  6. Thank you for the rug tutorial....I love it! The teddy bears are adorable & I can see why they are hard to part with. I see not problem with raising your prices. You have many hours in your work and your time and skill are worth it. I love the little sheep I purchased and will cherish him. He may even end up in a blog post soon.... ;-)

Pricing is very hard, I try to think of the time I put in to it and the effort, I realized even if I have time, I'm not always up for it, and if I'm not, I wont get pleased with the result, so I can't rush making things, I'll just make things when I think it is fun =)
I'm so glad you wanted the little sheep, I'll keep my eyes open for future posts =)

God fornøjelse med dit embroidery, spændende hvad du vil få ud af det.

Denna ull är från ett startpaket från slöjddetaljer, men jag tror Panduro har det med. =)

  17. How sweet that you work with your daughter! The teddy bears are adorable. You shouldn't do your prices too cheap. Even if they don't sell, it's good to have inventory. Don't lower your prices. Once people find your shop everything will sell. I went through it in the beginning. I lowered, raised, lowered my prices. But that didn't make a difference. Then finally after a couple of years my store finally got noticed. So stick with what you know your items are worth.

  18. Your little girl is already quite talented. I can't see a 2.5 year old having much dexterity! I think I should let my girl start early too and see what she can do. It's a great tutorial btw. I never knew it could be that easy. Your work is really nice. I am surprised the lady frankly said she would resell your stuff at a higher price. It seems unfair to you but at least she was honest and told you.

I worked a lot with clay when I was a kid, I think I started quite early, it says 3 years on the package, but I was a very calm child that could sit with my clay for hours =) I tried giving some to my daughter, but it was too early, she just takes it to pieces =) But she loves doing that, but I hope she will be able to make something later, even if its just a lump =)

If it's possible to sell my things at a higher price than I first thought I wouldn't mind ;) I rather see the money with myself than to someone else.. Especially since my income is 0kr a month... But I choose not to have a job, to be with my daughter instead and I'm happy I could chose that, but we can't go a head and buy all we want on one quite low salary my husband gets... So it's nice to get some money from my minis, so I can buy more minis and more material ;)

    2. I wished I had the option to stay home with my daughter. I feel I am missing out on our growing up and it will never be something I can re-live. I am the only breadwinner in the family and so all financial responsibilities are on me. I wished I was talented like you so I could create art and sell them :)

    3. It's not that usual in Sweden to stay home this long with a kid, but it was important to us. So I'm happy we could really do it =) I tried look for a job before, but I haven't finished school and I didn't get any, then my husband tried and he got one, so I was the lucky one to get to stay home =)
Maybe one day in the future you get time to find out some thing you are really great at, then you can sell your art too!! =) I want to say that you are a writer of some kind.. so maybe you already work with your talent. =) I always wished I knew what I wanted to work with, but I don't have a clue.. Making minis wont cover the rent, so I guess I have to start working for real one day =) But for now I try to enjoy my freedom ;)
