Nursery

I have been blogging more than usual this month, haven't I?! Well, like the Swedish saying: Smida medan järnet är varmt (Strike when the iron is hot).. So here I go again =)

I have been praying for friends. But one morning I woke up thinking, I have already gotten them,
here on my blog =) I wouldn't mind a nice girl in my age with a daughter (or son) in my daughters age that lived close to us, so that we could play together sometime. But I woke up thinking, God has blessed me with great blog-friends, and I should be thankful for them instead of missing the things I don't have.
So thank you all for your nice comments and blog-friendship, I just want you to know how much that means to me!

I've made some more dragons, I'll post pictures of that later, but right now I wanted to get back to my house again. I love to be able to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that :) So forgive me for jumping between projects like this :)

I read that Melissa of Magic by Melissa loves the dollhouse nursery, and so do I! I really look forward on decorating my nursery, I did plan for 2 nurseries/children's rooms in my house, just because I love nurseries and Children's rooms so much :) But I was a bit afraid to start, I want it to be perfect and I have so many ideas I don't know how to combine them and to get a beautiful totality, not just some beautiful pieces thrown together.. I have a hard time with that in all my rooms.. and I'm bad at "less is more".. But I guess I can throw in as many things as I like, and remove things later if I think it's to much =)
I'll just have to try, I can always rearrange everything later and make new furniture or things for all my rooms later :)

I'm done with the floor, finally!! But I was not that happy with it.. :( But it will have to do, maybe I'll like it better once I have started to decorate the room. I think I already like it a bit better =)
The carpet is made by MiniatureMama Lena I bought it on the fair, but she has one in her Etsy shop right now =)
I think because of the roof it's a bit hard to furnish these rooms.. But I got an idea of shelves on the little wall between the room, I'm quite please with the result =)
Some of my felted animals moved in =) And the small Lundby house, I got from Anna.
The books are also from Anna. I found the Barbie box on Pinterest.

My doll got to play a little with a sheep before I put it out for sale on Etsy.

I love bright colours, but I do like wooden furniture. But, should I paint this bed?? Or leave it as it is? I have a hard time repainting and change things that doesn't really need fixing.. But I wonder if I'd like it better in a bright colour?! I can't decide.. Anyhow I will change the bed set. =)

I was planning on making a teddy bear for my Etsy shop, but... This one begged me to stay ;) (Too many of my felted animals do.....) I plan to make a toyshop some day, I love toys, and I cant keep filling my nursery.. So, a toystore would be great.. But I have a bit to many projects right now.. I would love to furnish a house (I'm doing it right now), a greenhouse (started) a fantasy house (started a roombox), Santas workshop (started) a toy store, a pet store, a bakery, another big house, a 50s house, a garden and a house that I built from scratch.....
But I'm good at starting new projects and leave them unfinished, I'd love to finish a project (as mush you can finish something..) But instead of working on my own projects I started working on a frog for Etsy... As soon as I think I'll take a little needlefelting break, I'm at it again...
But my next post, I promise it will be about the dragons =) I was a bit dissappointed with my work, but in the end they weren't all bad.. so I promise some dragons next time =)

A last picture of the rooms so far, I think I'll have to rearrange everything... But I don't know how.. I'll have to think about that =)

I'm not finished with the baby dressing-table, I added a board to it, I thought it was too short for a baby =) And I'm planning on repainting it.

Take care
Hannah

  4. Hi Hannah,
I think the nursery is looking great so far. I am not sure why you were unhappy with the floor...I really like it and I think the blue is a perfect compliment to the pink you have in the room. Just my opinion ;-) You have made great progress so far and I am looking forward to seeing more. I am off to see Melissa's blog. Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of the week!
    Hugs,
    Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa! I had a very hard time deciding what to do with that floor, and the result was not what I first had in mind, but I start to like it more and more now =)
There is a bit to much pink too, but I'm glad the blue compliments it.
Melissa is a quite new blogger, but she has a beautiful blog and her things for the nursery is just great =)
Thank you! Hope you have a good week too!

  5. I like it Hannah, you really can't add too much to a childs room (depending on how many children people have the kids sometimes have more stuff than the adults so felt away and add as much as you want) as for the bed can you paint a design on it like maybe some trees or balloons (then you can make a little desk for them and add balloons or trees) if you put bright colorful things on their stuff the kids stay in their rooms and dont bother you so much :) I hope you get a neighbor with a child so you and your daughter can play with them.

    Hugs
    Marisa

Ps I have a lot of projects too so I know what you mean about not finishing them :)

    1. Thank you Marisa! Well I can see what you are saying, our home is filling up more and more with childrens stuff (we only have one kid, but since I'm crazy about toys we have a lot of it...) =) I will have to add some toys in every room of my house, because that's how we have it ;)
A design or a pattern is a great suggestion, I added a pink pattern with white clouds to the baby bed, I don't think I got it on picture.. Maybe I can make a nice design for the other bed too, I'll think about it a bit more =)

  6. In my opinion the playing-around-and-making-plans-how-to-arrange-things is the best part of a project... ;O) You're creating a true paradise for children... I like what you've done so far, especially with all your gorgeous felties (Btw - poor froggie! Still in pieces facing the big needle... *LOL*) and creating two room styles on one floor. About the bed, you can still paint it anytime you want to, right? Or only add a border... but maybe a light colour would be better because it's quite dark now under the roof.

    1. You should come over here and help me then Birgit, and bring some bears too ;) I love the making-things-part, and have a hard time with the arrangement-part. I'm great at putting away things in boxes... but really bad at displaying them.
Yes all my poor animals have to face the needle.. I had to tell my daughter it's no big deal that I punch them with needles, that's just what I do to make them ;)
Yes it is a bit too dark up here, but I have never worked with electricity before, but I would love to have lamps in the whole house, I will have to ask my husband for help with that, but light colours is a great tip until/if I ever get lights..

    1. Tack Titti! Jag fastnade i tanken att vänner måste vara sånna man faktiskt träffar och umgås med, men det kanske helt enkelt passar mig bättre (iaf just nu) att ha mina vänner på nätet =) Tack själv, för att du vill vara en av dem =)

  9. I think jumping around and doing what spurs you in creativity is just fine..but then again I am queen of scatterbrains ruler of the undone!!

I know the dragons are patient but just not for food or cookies, so they can wait. Playing with things and moving stuff around is a great idea..it lets you see what spaces are empty to make more fantastic felted wonders!!

I will follow you around and we can doge the squirrels together..whilst doing 101 different projects!

  11. Your nursery looks so complete and pretty. I think you did a great job with such a little space. Oh I know what you mean about having a play companion for your daughter. My little girl has no companion her age. Only older or younger kids. I think she will enjoy school because she will see many people her age! For now she learns a lot from her older cousins.

Actually I have a baby brother that is 6 months younger than my daughter =) So she has at least one friend in her age. But they live a little to far away, we cant just walk there to play.. But I'm happy we have them close enough to go there by car over the day =)

  14. I love this room, specially the floor, it's delightfully shabby and looks loved but if you don't like it yourself I'm sure you will find something wonderful that you can do with it. All the toys are precious, I love the lamb with his quizzical expression!

  16. Hej Hannah!

  18. I just wanted to write to say that this post really spoke to me (back in May when I read it.) I also wish I had a friend nearby that I could meet up with who had children who were the same age as my younger son who is almost 3 when I take care of him on my days off from work. I do have friends now in the neighborhood from my daughter's daycare and now school so sometimes we meet up with them after school. So hopefully more friends will come when your children enter school .
