"The big bunch"

I have been thinking of collecting all my needlefelted animals and take a picture of them, and maybe use as a business card for the fair =) And when Jane was talking about the "big bunch" in a comment I finally got started on that picture. Actually they were a lot more than I thought =) And still I couldn't find my mouse, and I have given away one dog, sold 4 mice and 4 cats and given away some sheep and several teddy bears =)
I do have a terrible separation anxiety, but I think it will be best for some animals to move, so I can make room for new ones, I love needlefelting and I can see how I get better and better and I want to develop even more so some have to go (I wouldn't mind the money they could bring either... ;) ) But now I'll always have this picture of them all, before I start selling them =)
I hope I will have many more for the fair, because so many of these are staying with me ;) The Pettersson families dog, the mini version of my late dog, some teddy bears, some cats.. yes, I wont sell them all, so that's a relief =)
I borrowed my husbands camera for this, it was great, even with a not that great photographer like me =)  The super macro button made me start wishing for a new camera after all ;) (I do like to stick to things I know, like my old camera and computer and stuff like that.)

The dogs
The schnauzer, Chinese crested and a lying white poodle will stay with me, and I'm starting to really like the white terrier too, so he might stay as well.... If I'm going to keep every other animal like this it will take me a good while to get a big bunch.... ;)

The cats
Two of these have already moved in to my 1:12 house. But some are going to the fair =)

The newest dog, I think he looks a bit old and tired =) And I have no clue what bread he is, but I kinda like him anyway =) I hope some one on the fair will like him as well, and bring him to a good home =)
One new dog and one new cat =)

I hate to brag, and I'm always uncertain of my things, are they good enough?! but I have to say I think this cat is kinda funny ;)
I made two cats that are "washing" them selves, one grey (which I'm almost about to keep for myself... ;) ) and one white one. (The white one was a bit quick to the selling-box, so he didn't make it to the picture, but you may see him at the picture above, on all the cats)

Then someone asked for a giraffe, so I started making one =) or 2 so far, took much more time than I first thought, all these spots are kinda hard to do, I roll and roll the wool to get a tiny piece to add on the body =) Fun, but it took 3 hours (effective time) to get it done. I thought I should time a project to see how much time I spend on things =) But the dogs take more time, so I never remember to time them =)
And it doesn't really matter, but I thought it would help me decide prices.. which is so hard!!
I hate deciding a price... I'm afraid I will overcharge people, but I think I have been very cheap so far..
Since I get a little separation anxiety I could just as well keep my stuff if I'll sell them too cheap, so I think I had to raise the prices so that I can feel more happy about selling things =) Otherwise I could just keep them =)
So I have double some prices =) And right now the cheapest teddy bear cost 40kr (around 6.2USD or 4.5euro) and the most expensive dog is 230kr(around 35.5USD or 26Euro). My cats cost 90-130kr. (14-20 USD or 10-15 Euro) Since all my animals are a bit different I have different prices on almost all of them =)
I hope to start an Etsy shop after the fair and sell some animals now and then =) I'll tell you when or if that happens =)

Do you have a tip on how much I should charge for my things?? I don't want to be too cheep or too expensive, I want a perfect price ;) Buts its hard to know what the perfect price should be =) Do you think the prices looks OK right now??

And when I was taking so many pictures I got an idea to make a tiny children's book. First I made a book with my teddy bears, first picture is with one teddy, then two and at least ten teddy bears =) Then I made a book with cats and then dogs too. This was fun, but took more time than I thought it would. I will be selling these books on the fair too =)
 Sorry for the bad picture..
I've made them in Swedish right now, but I could just change the text and make some in English later =)

Next time I'll show you the generous package I received from Conny =)
Thank you for stopping by to read my blog =)
Take care
Hannah

  3. That's a very big bunch! I do love the giraffe very much! Just so cute! I think your price are reasonable but then again I don't know much about that market so sorry if I can't be more helpful! Oh I know what you mean with the camera. My husband asked me if I wanted to buy a new one, but I am comfortable with mine right now.

    1. Thank you Jane! I have been thinking of doing a giraffe for a long time, it was one of my favourite animals when I was a kid (but I loved all animals =) )

  4. I would take them all to the fair and keep the ones I wanted near the back so people couldn't pick them (I know that's bad and Im ashamed of myself) they're all good..my favorite is the kitten cleaning himself..he reminds me of Baxter

    1. Thanks Marisa! I've tried to study how cats behave on pictures on the net. I'm not that much of a cat person since I'm afraid of them in real life, but they are cute, on a distant ;)
I have been thinking of bringing the ones I wont sell and just show them, there will be people there that don't sell their stuff, just show them, so I could have some in the back that is just for show =)

  5. This is indeed a big bunch - great idea to take this lovely group photo. About your question... pricing is always a difficult thing and it's hard for me to do this even for my own stuff - I can only advice you to do some research and see what prices others charge who do similar things like you.

    Greetings

    1. Thanks Birgit! I have been looking a lot on Etsy and hope I found a good price now, otherwise I can always change it during the fair =) (I have been changing it up and down for several days now ;) )

  6. Hi Hannah, What a big bunch of cuteness! :-) I love the cats grooming themselves--it's so funny and realistic! Yes, I was going to make Birgit's suggestion. Look on Etsy for what others are charging. See if they have sold many. Sometimes they have them listed at high prices, but they never sell. ;-) People don't usually pay as much at fairs as they'll pay online, so consider that too. xo Jennifer

    1. Thanks Jennifer! I have been looking a lot on Etsy and tried to see if people actually sell things =) I don't know if I'm able to see the price they sold for?! but I have been able to see IF and what they have sold =)
And I guess people on a fair is on a budget, so I will consider that too, thank you! =)

  8. What an adorable group! You have been very busy making all of these little cuties. :-) I love them all but I think the giraffe is my favorite.
I think your prices are fair, but a quick check of Ebay & Etsy may help too. I agree with Jennifer that people will not pay as much at the fairs.

  9. Really I like the dogs, they have a lot of details. I agree with you about the work of the giraffe, I'm making one since this summer ( I work in it one day and I got bored of doing spotes, one day I'll finish it).

    1. Thank you! Hope you get to finish your giraffe one day =) I have started another one, but I stopped when I got to the spots.. I hope I will pick it up again soon =)

  10. These are AMAZING! ohhhh I love the bunch of cuties you made! They are all so adorable and have such wonderful personalities...love love the cat with the leg up..and the giraffe is simply exquisite!

I agree with the others on ebay and etsy pricing but I would also suggest considering the offer or bargin to "someone" who might talk on and on about the love they have for them. When I did my first fair I had my set prices but I would see someone come by and maybe comeback ..so you pull them into a conversation and ask them about their collection, get to know them and make a sale with business card even if it was 2 dollars less I made them feel like a deal.

People remember this! I had a little girl come by 2 times and look, I had a stash of simple books and apples breads etc.. So I gave her a simple printie bag and a tiny apple...her mother came back with her on the third trip and bought one of my most expensive items....and a few since then ;)

    Wall of text srry ;P

  11. Good idea to take a group photo, bit alarmed at how many you are keeping :D Sell them all Hannah!! :D I totally understand though, I couldn't part with my creations either, especially those of an animal kind. I agree with everybody else, check etsy and ebay, especially check the feedback, to see if they have sold at the price set.

    1. Thanks Sarah! I might bring some of the ones I dont want to sell, and maybe sell them if some one is really interested =) I might be able to make a new one for myself =) But I have some kind of beginners luck, I cant manage to make a lot of anything.. the first is always best ;) Maybe because its more interesting to make a new thing, its a bit boring to make the same things over and over again.. =)

I do have a hard time letting them go ;) But maybe they will get a better home this way =) I cant have all my animals in my own house, so some have to go, but its hard to decide which ones =)

  14. Aaawwwww!!!! All those cuties are fantastic!!!!! Very well done Hannah!!! Regarding the prices, it's very hard to say...some people on Etsy make very bad things, very priced and they still sell....other people make very good, detailed things and they don't sell as much.....other people make good things and they sell....so it all depends on what people are willing to spend for something. But obviously, the lower the price, the more chances you have of selling. Good luck anyway and I'm sure you will have no problems selling them!!

    1. Thank you very much Simona! You are so right, some sell at high prices and some sell better things at lower prices... =)
I'll try to keep a low enough price, but I don't want to sell too cheep, that way people may think it's not handmade or no big a deal making them =)

  15. I know exactly, what you mean, Hannah. It's always so difficult to make a price.
The giraffe is so cute. A few years ago I made a miniature felt bag with a decoration of tiny balls - OMG !!!! - it took hours. So this is a very precious giraffe:)))
Good luck with the ETSY shop (in spe)

    1. Thank you Andrea! I thought I had respond to this before, but it most have been lost somewhere =) The Etsy shop will soon be reality =) And I hope to make some more giraffes to sell. But I feel a little to lazy right now =) I shouldn't complain, it's not THAT much work, but it would have been easier if all giraffes where plain yellow ;) (no spots)
